THE GONSTEAD METHOD

Dr Toby Fraser practises according to the principles of The Gonstead Method of Chiropractic — a precise, systemised approach that focuses on identifying and correcting vertebral subluxations affecting nervous system function.

The Gonstead System requires a detailed spinal and neurological examination designed to pinpoint areas of nerve interference. Adjustments are delivered specifically by hand, allowing for accuracy and control.

GONSTEAD PRINCIPLES

The Gonstead Method consists of 6 important principles:

  • History of a Patient’s Health

  • Instrumentation

  • Visualisation

  • Static Palpitation

  • Motion Palpitation

  • Radiographic Analysis

These six components allow a Gonstead Chiropractor to determine precisely where nerve interference originates. By delivering a specific adjustment to that area, pressure is reduced and optimal communication between the brain and body can be restored.

It is this restored neurological communication that underpins chiropractic care and the effectiveness of the Gonstead Method.

HISTORY

The Gonstead Method was developed by Dr Clarence S. Gonstead, who applied principles from his mechanical engineering background to the biomechanics of the human spine.

Dr Gonstead established a clinic in Mt Horeb, Wisconsin (USA), which became internationally recognised for treating patients seeking relief from pain and spinal dysfunction.  Dr Toby has attended seminars at this very clinic, an incredible learning experience.

In 1990, the Gonstead Chiropractic Society (Australia) was formed to promote education and clinical excellence in the Gonstead System. Through undergraduate and postgraduate seminars, the Society continues to train chiropractors wishing to refine their expertise in this highly specific approach.
